Caccia Al Piano 1868

Bolgheri in Tuscany has assumed the role of standard - bearer of Italian winemaking, thanks to what English speaking wine lovers call Supertuscans, wines of unsurpassed excellence and distinctive sensory qualities. These wines, produced from merlot, cabernet franc and cabernet sauvignon, exhibit impressive body and structure and feature intense, complex aromas. With the goal of enriching its line with two new red wines of distinction, the Gruppo Berlucchi acquired the Tenuta Caccia al Piano 1868, located in the very heart of Bolgheri's most exceptional viticultural area, Castagneto Carducci. The estate comprises 20 hectares under vine, divided into three separate vineyards, each at a different elevation.

Levia Gravia Bolgheri DOC Superiore

Blend: 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 10% Syrah.
Dense and saturated red, almost opaque in appearance, the purplish reflections testify to the wine's surprising youthfulness and liveliness. On the nose immediate aromas of well - ripened wild red berry fruit with vigorous impressions of blackberry, sour cherry and cassis are followed by more subtle notes of tobacco leaf and spice essences, such as cinnamon, liquorice and a subtle hint of balsam. Very pleasurable on the palate, with complex flavours that linger in the mouth. Emphatic, densely packed tannins leave a lingering, sweetish note on the palate. Matured in Frenck oak barriques for 22 - 24 months.

Serving: 18-20C
Suggest: Red meats, roasts, game birds, aged and blue cheeses.
